We wanted to tell you about a fantastic project that was also funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery through the 2014 Dream Fund, alongside Play on Pedals – Missing People‘s Child Rescue Alert.
We were impressed by the project when we were at the People’s Postcode Lottery gala last year and wanted to promote it further and wider.
The Child Rescue Alert is a system to alert the public via text and email when children go missing. Individuals register their details and then receive information when a child goes missing, to facilitate and speed up the search for finding the child. The system is modelled on other successful projects in America and the Netherlands and has over 250,000 people registered to receive alerts so far but needs more! You can sign up to the alert scheme here.
Over twenty keen supporters of Missing People, including Kate McCann, who’s daughter Madeline tragically went missing 8 years ago, have just this last week completed a mega cycle from Edinburgh to London – over 500 miles to raise money and awareness for the charity. Congratulations to all who participated!
For such an important cause, perhaps 2016 could see some Play on Pedals-inspired adults across Glasgow take on the challenge and join the team in Edinburgh; for more information read on here.
