In June 2018, Play Together on Pedals was launched in Edinburgh. Funded by Transport Scotland, this new development for the Play on Pedals partnership aimed to enable families to cycle together for every day journeys, utilising the skills and knowledge of experienced cycling families to help overcome the barriers around routes, equipment and confidence.
Along with continuing to deliver instructor training and offering small grants for equipment to early years organisations, Play Together on Pedals also focused on working with parents and family members to encourage families to cycle together.
At drop-in sessions and bike curious events, as well as cycle training for young people, parents were able to find information and advice regarding equipment; try out different kit; talk to other cycling families about cycling safely and using Edinburgh’s cycle routes; and get involved in activities available around the city.
April 2020 – March 2021. The project moved from Edinburgh to East Lothian and Scottish Borders.
Funding all of in these areas has now finished. We’re currently looking for other sources of funding.
